Project Challenges

Ridely was built to address the unique challenges of campus carpooling at USF, where students needed a simple, safe, and reliable way to share rides. The project required balancing dual roles in a single app, handling both daily class commutes and one-off trips, ensuring student safety through route visibility, maintaining fair pricing, and reducing cancellations-all while keeping the experience intuitive for a student audience.

Needed a single app where USF students could both offer and find rides without making the UX confusing or forcing them into separate “driver” and “rider” apps.

Cross-campus and home-to-campus trips required smart route matching and auto-calculated pickup/drop points so students didn’t have to manually coordinate every detail.

The platform had to support recurring class commutes as well as one-time rides (weekend trips, airport runs), and still keep matching fast and relevant for both.

To reassure students (and the university) about safety, the app needed strong visibility on routes, plus alerts when trips deviated significantly from the planned path.

While drivers should be able to set their own rates, Ridely needed guardrails like min/max price ranges so prices stayed fair, student-friendly, and non-exploitative.

High last-minute cancellations or no-shows could quickly erode trust, so the team needed advanced cancellation analytics to understand patterns and intervene early.

The Mobility Solution

We implemented a unified Ridely application where every USF student can act as rider or driver (Offer Pool / Find Pool), backed by an Admin Panel that controls pricing, safety, and analytics. The focus was on smart matching, safety visibility, and data-driven reliability.
