Yanga Case Study
Yanga Taxi (Yanga Ride) is an app-driven rideshare platform focused on making urban mobility in Lagos and its suburbs simple, affordable, and safe. Riders can see upfront fares, book instantly or schedule rides up to 7 days in advance, and track their driver in real time for a seamless experience. With vetted drivers, well-maintained vehicles, 24/7 availability, in-app chat & call, and multiple payment options (cash, card, in-app wallet), Yanga Taxi positions itself as a reliable, locally focused transport partner for daily commuters, city travellers, and business users across Lagos.

Yanga Taxi is a Lagos-focused rideshare platform with upfront fares, reverse bidding, scheduled rides up to 7 days, real-time tracking, and flexible payments-built to handle heavy traffic, mixed connectivity, and 24/7 operations.
Project Challenges
Yanga Taxi came to us with a clear goal: scale a rideshare service that feels dependable in Lagos-where traffic conditions change by the minute, demand surges unexpectedly, and connectivity isn’t always stable. They needed the core experience to stay consistent for riders (accurate ETAs, transparent fares, and smooth payments) while also building a stronger operational backbone that protects trust, supports drivers, and keeps the business model sustainable as the platform grows.
Managing real-time matching and ETAs in a city with severe congestion, irregular travel patterns, and peak-time spikes across different suburbs.
Building a system that supports strict driver vetting, ongoing quality monitoring, and transparent ratings-while still scaling the driver base fast enough.
Providing a smooth payment flow across cash, cards, and in-app wallet in an environment with varying card adoption, failed transactions, and occasional network downtime.
Guaranteeing that scheduled rides (up to 7 days in advance) are honoured, auto assigned to the right drivers, and remain fully trackable in real time despite intermittent connectivity.
Handling cancellations, fare disputes, safety concerns, and support requests around the clock without overwhelming the operations team.
Designing a fair, transparent driver subscription model (daily/weekly/monthly plans) that generates predictable revenue while remaining attractive versus pure commission-only competitors.
The Mobility Solution
To help Yanga Taxi handle Lagos’ heavy traffic, mixed cash/card market, and the need for better driver earnings and price transparency, we implemented a three-layer solution across the Customer App, Driver App, and Admin Panel. The focus was on smarter pricing (reverse bidding), predictable driver income (subscriptions), and tighter operational control.

Riders raise a trip request and receive driver bids within defined limits, enabling competitive yet controlled pricing with a clear final fare before booking.
Support for both on-demand trips and rides scheduled up to 7 days in advance, with smart auto-assignment closer to pickup time.
Live map tracking of the driver, accurate ETAs, and clear trip states (on the way, arrived, in-progress, completed) to build trust and reduce anxiety.
Seamless flow for cash, card, and in-app wallet payments, with automatic fare calculation, refunds/adjustments, and transaction history.
Masked number calling, in-app chat, share-trip links, and a simple SOS/emergency option to strengthen rider safety and confidence.

Daily, weekly, and monthly subscription options that let drivers keep 100% of fares (within ride limits), improving earning control and predictability.
Live view of today’s earnings, subscription usage, completed rides, and projected income to motivate drivers to stay active in peak hours.
Clean interface to accept/decline trip offers (including bid requests), toggle Online/Offline, and set preferred operating times or areas.
One-tap navigation from the app with optimized pickup and drop routing to reduce dead kilometers and improve trip turnaround times.
Clear visibility of rider ratings and comments plus in-app access to support for fare disputes, safety concerns, or technical issues.

Real-time map of online drivers, active trips, pending requests, and city hot spots, with tools to manually assign/reassign or cancel rides.
Configuration of bid ranges, bid timeouts, auto-winner rules, and base fare settings (per km/min, peak/off-peak, zone pricing) from a single console.
Create and manage driver subscription plans, monitor uptake and usage, and track revenue split between subscriptions and per-ride commissions.
Approve/reject drivers, manage KYC and vehicle documents, handle suspensions, and get alerts on document expiry or repeated violations.
Dashboards for trips, cancellations, repeat usage, driver productivity, and zone performance to support data-driven growth and ops decisions.
